Condoms

 

We distribute condoms and pregnancy tests to Family Planning Clinics, GUM Clinics, Doctors Surgeries and youth workers.

Basic sexual health training such as STI information, condom teach and risks of unprotected sex can be given. Questions or concerns you may have about condoms can also be answered.

What are the free services that the NHS offers to local area (to anyone above 13 years old)?

  • We provide a selection of condoms for free

Other free services available

  • Lubricant – a standard pack of condoms (from a clinic for example) should contain sachet(s) of lubricant – they make condoms safer in some circumstances. This is available as per patient requirements.
  • Pregnancy testing is free from the following places:-

- Conifer
- GP’s
- Family planning clinics
- GUM/Sexual Health Clinics (Castle Hill, Cottingham and Bridlington Hospital)

As there is a wider range and ease of accessibility of free condoms available to the public there should be no reason for a patient to have to buy them, and no reason why any patient should have to go without, resulting in the reduction of STI’s and unwanted pregnancy
Patients should be encouraged to use this service (and try out the different condoms available) – so that they are not put off from using condoms because they think they are uncomfortable, too expensive, don’t know where they can get them or don’t know how to use them. REMEMBER - Condoms are 98% effective if used according to instructions. Two women in 100 will get pregnant in a year.
